0x00000024 Blue Screen - Media Centre Edition
Hi

I have a HP dv6000 laptop which won't boot - it returns the error message above.

I have tried cloning the disk with Acronis onto a new disk and the same thing happens - this rules out a mechanical fault.

I used the recovery section to do a non destructive recovery - still the same.

Then I used the recovery section to do a factory restore which works. OK, you may think, but of course I have lost all settings etc.

I have the original hard disk which is unaltered - there must be a problem with some windows files.

I would love a pointer on how to see if I can rectify this. I have no XP cd that came with the laptop - but I do have an OEM xp cd, but not media centre edition

Thanks
