Extremely annoying noise coming from my tower
It's like this errrrr noise or something. I can't really describe it. All I know is that it's been going on for a few months but never happened this often. Now it starts making noise every 30 seconds. To stop it I either hit it, which I'm beginning to find is very bad for it, or if I just push down on it, it goes away for a while. Also messing with the USB and headphone jacks infront stop it sometimes.

Any ideas?I'll get a video up soon.

have you opened the door of the tower to see where the sound is coming from? most likely a failing fan, all you need to do is open the case, follow the sound and identify what component is causing it, as i said its most likely to be either the front intke fan or the rear ehaust fan, could also possibly be the CPU heatsink fan but if it was then you would be posting about restarting problems and overheating.

when the noise apperas tap the back of the tower where you see a fan grill if the noise starts to 'dim' when you tap it then the rear fan is the culprit, do the same for the front. my advice open the case and have a closer look.

Well, at least it is not an annoying beeping noise. My dog really dislikes the annoying beeping noise.

To me what you describe sounds like a fan. It could be the blade hitting something , although this more often sounds like a rapid tick tick noise . It sounds more like you have a cheap fan and it has a sleeve rather than a bearing where the shaft passes through the housing. It is failing and will eventually seize up , but now occasionally it grabs just enough to make an errr errr noise as the shaft grinds away at the sleeve or the blade wobbles and hits the housing.

Identify which fan and replace it.

Fans are cheap and relatively easy to replace. Consider yourself lucky. If the same sound were coming from a car...well, that would be a different story.

I would do that but... I can't even open it.

The tower I mean. I've opened it a dozen times before but now it just won't open. I've turned the screw literally at least 100 times in each direction and it just doesn't get loose.

Any ideas.

Ok when you say you turn the screws and they dont come loose, do you mean that they keep spinning but do not open? if so the all you need to do is pull the at the same time as turning them Anti-clockwise. So what i would do is place a flat head screwdriver behind the screw and apply some pressure as if you were forcing it out the with another scre driver turn the screw and it will come out.
