Programs in Windows and Windows itself crashing, even after clean install
A while ago, I posted this thread asking for help with a situation that was or wasn't caused by malware. Some of these problems were that I was getting BSoDs that appeared to be caused by a different problem each time, web browsers crashing spontaneously, and Svchost.exe taking up 100% CPU in random spikes. Since I got no replies at any site I asked, and the symptoms were getting unbearable, I reformatted my computer only two days ago.

But today I've been getting some of the symptoms from before the reinstall. Earlier I had a BSoD and 2 random Firefox crashes within two hours. I was not doing anything too CPU or graphics-intensive (on Youtube and doing normal web surfing). Since I haven't even completely installed all the necessary programs and drivers [from CDs that came with my computer] yet, I am ruling out malware as a factor. I have installed graphics drivers for my GeForce 4 MX GPU, but they came with the computer, so it shouldn't have been a problem.

Things like this have never happened before, especially not right after a reinstall. Would anyone like to take a guess as to what's causing the problems? Is it possible that my hard drive is dying, since it's almost 5 years old?

EDIT: svchost high CPU usage problem recurring again... :sigh: At least this time the internet connection on Firefox doesn't stop.
