Outlook problems
I have gone through a lot with one of the experts here but I still have many problems.

I 1st wrote because I got an error whenever I tried to delete or edit anything in my adress book in Outlook 2003, runing on Windows XP pro. "Outlook.pst has reached it's max size. To reduce the amount of date in this file, select some items you no longer need and permanently detele them using SHIFT & DELETE. You should also consider using the new Outlook Personal Folders File.pst that provides greater capapcity."

I did download that file. In the C:Outlook file I now have:

achive. pst 3,737 KB
extend.dat 1 KB
outlook.pst 1,918,545 KB
Personal Folder File.pst 684,947KB
Personal Folder.pst 672,593 KB

I have tried to EXPORT all my Personal files in Outlook- File/Export to a File\create a Type - personal File Folder.pst\Slect Files to Export - Person file folder and subs\Export person folder - Options "Replace duplicates with items exported, and I select the Personal Folder File.pst to expost to.

ERROR: The source & destimation folder for this operation cannot be the same.

I go back to the export, select the same Personal Folder, but chenage the desination to the Personal Folder.pst. I get the SAME ERROR.

In Outlook I went to File/Data File management - I didn't do anything because the directiuons say" Data Files - to move or copy these files you must first shut down Outlook" - But you can't access this window if Outlook is shut down.

Currently I cannot access my Adress Book, but recieve email fine.

Help!

Since I don't have any experience with Outlook 2003 my assistance will probably be limited however I am wondering why you can't move personal files out of Outlook when it's closed?? There has to be a source folder where those files are stored and from there it simply becomes a matter of cutting and pasting them to another folder of choice or deleting them altogether.

Sorry but since you said you don't have much experience with Outlook 2003 I don't really know how to do it and don't want to take the chance. I will wait to see it I can find someone with more experience...thanks anyway.

That's ok but I think you'll find that's what you'll have to end up doing. The files will have to be manually removed from the source folders within Outlook when it's closed so as to free up the space. Then you can re-import some of the files that you had previously saved. I do this all the time with Outlook Express when the source folder starts getting bigger. In any event good luck.

OK in Outlook I exported all my files to a new file called "File Folder 1.pst". Now my problem is - How do I direct Outlook to use that file? I went to File\Data management but can't seem to edit it to use that file.
