Dump Log from Inexplicable BSOD
This morning I left the room for a few minutes and returned to discover my computer had inexplicably BSOD'd , indicating I should restart if this is the first time it happened.

I had been doing the same things with the computer I do every day, namely I had my three messengers (yeah, three, because my friends don't all use the same service) and my email client logged on, Firefox open, flash-drive Weatherbug, and I think that's about it. I also have a Logitech QuickCam with the accompanying software installed but with the corresponding startups disabled via Scotty. I mention this because their software is less than perfect.

In any case, at the time I had a tab open with the Pandora radio player and a separate window with additional tabs open. The radio, IIRC, was on pause at the time.

That was the environment when I left the room - same working conditions as every day.

When I returned, the blue screen with the white words. I smacked myself in the head when I realized, five seconds after I pressed power, that I should have written down the onscreen text. Stupid!

However, I pulled this from event log:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: Save Dump
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1001
Date: 7/5/2008
Time: 9:37:47 AM

Computer: DATELINE420
Description:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x100000d1 (0xba4d0000, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0xba392e34). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini070508-01.dmp.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I wanted to attach the dump file in the hopes somebody can help try to peg down what happened. TechGuy's popup tells me it's an invalid filetype, so I made a zip file, and to be sure I also changed the original .dmp to .txt and attached that as well, and all you'd need to do is change the extension back to .dmp .

One month later, it happened again. I think it may have something to do with Pandora.com but I can't be certain. All I know is, that webpage was open at the time during both of these incidents.

Never mind the attachments, here are the details.

C:\DOCUME~1\DATELI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER3a77.dir00\Mini080408-01.dmp

Onscreen Text of "BSOD" message:

Can anybody help?

EDIT:
But wait! there's more:

Whatever this all means, it's way over my head. I'm kind of completely puzzled; my best guess is it relates to Firefox 3 and pandora.com but that's only a guess.

After spending what seemed like an eternity searching for answers online, the best I could find was this.

Your first crash was caused by ss.sys. The second crash looks to be the same. See the following thread for a possible solution.

wow...I never suspected the network card. That's really disappointing, since the card itself (or "external adapter" if you want to get technical) seems to provide excellent results otherwise. It definitely pulls in a stronger signal and gives better nominal Mbps than the factory installed internal card.

This BSOD has happened twice in the past week, once when closing programs in preparation for shutdown, and again just now while watching TV on Winamp with about 7 tabs open in two Firefox windows, and email and instant messaging clients running in the background. Oh, and let's not forget about Weatherbug-for-U3 also. These were all running at the time. I went to "change channels" in Winamp, and boom. Blue screen.

Recommendations?

You might ZIPand attach a couple of recent minidumps so we can see if it is still the same error.

I've included the two most recent minidumps that I was able to locate. I changed the extension from .dmp to .txt so you might want to change it back.
please let me know if this worked properly.

I changed the extensions back to .dmp and zipped em up again with WinRAR. I hope this helps.

I can't read/analyze them anyway but, it looks better now. Before it was just a txt of garbled garbage. These I can't open, but, I know the folks who can read the .dmp files will be able to.

I don't think I have the "debugging tools" installed that the kb article talks about.

Neither file is readable by the debug tool. Maybe a result of changing the extension.

When I get home I'll re-do the search and upload them directly.
