Question Solved: Web shortcuts will not open from desktop
As soon as I put an internet shortcut on my desktop, sometimes I can open the website from the icon & sometimes it starts to open & then just hangs. Sometimes when I put a shortcut on the desktop I can open it a few times with no problem & then it will never work again. I can open all other shortcuts on my desktop, its just internet shortcuts that I have a problem with. I am running windows XP & useing IE on a Dell laptop. I have no other problems at all with anything & this has been going on for years. It almost seems like it is just a setting, but I just can not find a solution. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance for any response.

Try the "URL File Association Fix" at the link below.

I ran the fix & then created a few new shortcuts. I opened one of them twice with no problem & then could not open it again after that. The other one that I created I could not open at all. Same problem that I have always had. very strange.

ajsfi, Right click your Desktop, choose Properties, under the Desktop tab click the Customize Desktop button, under the Web tab make sure that every item is unchecked, click OK/Apply/OK.

Everything is unchecked already. The only thing that is there is
" My Current Home Page " & it is already unchecked.

ajsfi, Check out the many links/threads at the search link below. It appears that many using IE 7 are having the same problem.

Tufenuf,

My problem has been solved. Incase you run across this question again, the solution is to do a Google Desktop Upgrade. Even if you are not useing the google desktop. Thanks for helping & directing me to the other posts about this problem.
