Unable to delete favicon.ico in Temp Internet Files
I have changed the favicon.ico graphic for one website yet the older one is still being displayed. So I tried to go to Temp Internet Files and delete the favicon.ico file manually to force the browser to download the new one but IE 9 won't let me manually delete it.

I get NO message of any sort. I just try to delete it and.... NOTHING!

The new favicon displays fine in Firefox but I still want IE9 to display it as well.

How can I delete this favicon?

Thanks for any responses.

Hmmmmmm..... I have no issue with deleting the temp files... they delete without a problem... it's just that the favicon.ico files (in this folder) will not delete.

Unless absolutely neccessary I am hesitant to download a program everytime I want to do something on my computer... especially since at one time I could do this manually with the click of a mouse. So what's changed in windows now that I can't do it?

it sounded like in the 1st post you were trying to delete temporary internet files.

If you can delete the temp files, then what folder are the icons in?

The favicon.ico files are also in the temporary Internet Files folder... I just can't delete them. When I try nothing happens.

Do you have a Favorite set for the site?
Favicons are stored in an Alternate Data Stream of the Favorite, since IE7.

Delete the Favorite an make a new one.

I don't believe Ihave a favorite set for the site. In the past I just used to delete the temp internet files and go back to the site and it would reload the new favicon. I'll have to try and find out where the Alternate Data Stream is... but I'd still like to know why I am unable to delete favicons from the temp files... it gives me the option to delete... it just doesn't carry out the task when I try and delete.

Maybe try what I suggested. The program i suggested just deletes temp files only, doesnt come with a toolbar or anything crazy. The only function of tfc is to delete temp files.
