 Windows Update Error Hi there, Recently my Windows Update has not been able to check for updates and install updates. I keep getting the error code: 80096001. I have searched it up online and on the Microsoft website but I tried the solutions and it did not help. Please help, thank you in advance! | Yesterdays section of the log is showing failed updates. Today it is showing WARNING: Error: 0x80096001 when verifying trust for ......so it would appear some progress has been made. The system has to validate the download before it will install it, which it is failing to do, this could be due to some settings in the system. Follow this guide and again use the Fix-it http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822798. The Fix-it only runs methods 1 to 5 but I think you may need to go through method 7 for this problem. If this still fails to get the updates installing then I can only suggest a Repair install Vista Repair Install |
