Startup issues
When I turn my computer (windows vista) on, it stays on for 4 seconds. Then it turns off for 4 seconds, on for 4 seconds, off for for 4 seconds and this cycle keeps repeating. The startup screen does not even have time to come up. I have tried unplugging and plugging back in, but this has not worked. Does anybody have any advice for how to fix this?

How to Access Safe Mode

While the computer is turning on, tap F8 repeatedly until a black screen with white text appears. Using your arrow keys highlight the option Safe Mode and hit Enter.

Tried what you suggested, but the cycle is not long enough to pull up the safe mode screen. It will only stay on for 4 seconds, then shuts off.

Do you have the OS CD/DVD, Recovery CD/DVD, or a Recovery Partition?

What's the make and model of the problem PC?

Yes, you are going to need one of those.

What's the make and model of the PC?
