Solved: BSOD, BC Code 124 Hi tech guys
I've been having blue screens while playing Skyrim and can't pin down the problem. Hope you can help and thank you in advance. Below are the details, the memory dump, and I'll list all the solutions I've tried so far.
Starting in March, after doing a video card driver update, I started getting BSOD bccode 124 while playing Rift. I stopped playing the game so stopped thinking about the issue. Since then I've played many games - beta testing a graphical intense mmo, Sims3, Dragon Age 2, and others. None of those crashed let alone gave me a bsod.
Then I started playing Skyrim again and immediately started seeing frequent BSOD. The errors can occur right away, after 3 hours, or not at all. But the error will repeat if I load a save from right before the crash.
Here's what I've done to try and find the problem. Updated BIOS. Updated chipset drivers. Updated video card drivers. Updated razer naga (mouse) driver. Ran scan disk and found zero bad sectors. Ran Memtest86 1 pass with no errors. Stress tested with FurMark for 12 minutes with no issues. Ran CPUID HW Monitor while playing Skyrim with the highest recorded temp being 65. Reseated my video card and ram. Dusted the inside of the pc. I also ran Asus diagnostics. And here's the one error found - RTC failed its test. Seems like an unlikely cause but I plan to call Asus today.
I'm leaning towards it being some incompatibility between Rift, Skyrim, and latest driver for my video card.
Any other ideas? Thanks for your help
