System Malfunctions Occurring but Not a Virus
The computer I am on now is not the problem. The other computer, Windows Vista, is having constant problems. They come and go but the computer guy I know said it is not a virus but he did not know the problem. Sometimes I would click on Start and the screen would just be all gray. Other times I have partial desktop showing with scattered icons. I would hover my mouse over the icons and the green backround fills in where I move the mouse. It may be Ok for a while but then goes back to doing crazy things. It then goes back to normal again. It works in Safety Mode but there are things you can't do in that mode. The guy I know said it is something to do with software, drivers or something else but it is not a virus. I took some photos of the computer screen. Those are attached. I have no money to go to a computer repair store, so I am trying to fix this on my own or have the guy I know who works on computers help me. Though, he can't do anything since he has never seen the problem before. I hope someone can help me. I can take other photos if needed.

It could be a virus.

Have you tried System Restore?

I did do a system restore and that had no affect. I was told it was not a virus. It does not act like a virus either. More problems have occurred. The desktop icons are not legible. The words are not with the icons. Also, the clock is missing in the bottom right corner where you normally see it. If I click on start and hover over the list then the blue bar shows up on a different choice than the one I have the mouse arrow over. I was not sure where to place this question and don't know if this is the right spot for someone to help me.

Not sure what you mean by "not act like a virus". Viruses "act" like pretty much any problem that can occur on a computer.

Have you tried updating your graphics drivers?

Does it make any difference if you switch to the Basic theme, or shut down Desktop Windows Manager?
