Computer Freeze Exploring Internet I've been having major problems with my computer freezing for about a week. My screen locks up, mouse and keyboard are not responsive, ctrl/alt/delete does not work. The only thing that responds is the disc drive can open and close. I need to shut down the computer using the power button to recover. The problem occurs when I use Internet Explorer or Google Chrome. I can have the browsers open, however when I begin web searching, using Facebook, or playing Farmville on either browser I can only do so for a limited amount of time (usually 5-10min) before it freezes my computer. I've never had this problem before. I have ran my Norton 360 Anti-Virus (even shut it off to see if there was a conflict), Norton Power Eraser, and Malwarebytes but came up with nothing. I have cleared my temporary internet files, completed system updates, checked for problematic/updated drivers, and tried to go back to multiple store points but the problem still exists. I have also checked to see if both cooling fans were working, if the unit was running hot, and for buildup of dust, which all checked out. I am able to surf the net as long as I want using either browsers without any freeze-ups in Safe Mode. I am becoming frustrated and would appreciate any insight on this issue. I really do not want to restore back to original factory settings because I have tons of data to transfer if I choose to go that path. Thank you so much! |
