I'm running vista on my hp pavilion dv6 notebook pc with all factory stuff.

My problem started the other day between my 3 year old and I, she I assume locked the keyboard and I tried the command prompts to unlock it. After failing to unlock the keyboard I did a restart and the system won't come back! I've recently acquired a boot disk that doesn't have the windows operating system on it just the fix it portion. After running the boot disk I am stuck with only being able to use the command prompt option having no restore points on my system.

I've tried several codes I found in another question but my c drive is comng up as a removable drive with x being my main and all the codes require c drive - after trying unsuccessfully to simply type the codes with x instead of c I am having no luck. I typed the codes in I get an error that the parameter is incorrect (0x80070057) and asked to close system restore.

It's not looking good I admit but I can not afford to buy a new system such as windows 7 or a new computer and would really hope that I can get them photos on my hard drive some how..

Use the F11 key when booting up and select 'factory restore' or similar command, this will delete all your personal data but you will get your computer back.

F11 didn't work, it didn't do anything.

I took it to the repair shop this am and they inserted a code of some kind and brought everything back.
