I followed your instructions but I didn't get a System Configuration Utilities Box when I restarted. I restarted again and still no Box. I did another system config and still no Box. There has been no change to my computer, unfortunately.

Once you unticked all the above entires in msconfig - did you click Apply - Ok?
A message box will then appear saying - you must restart your computer before these changes will take effect.

Did you click on Restart?
If no - the System Configuration Utilities Box will not appear at startup, because no changes have been recognized.

I clicked on apply, then ok. It then asked me if I wanted to restart and I clicked yes. When I went back in to check to see if it had saved my change it did. But there were no ticks in any of the boxes. Is there something I need to keep ticked?

If the changes have been Saved - then that's all that matters.

How is your PC running now?

There has been no change to the computer. It still, at times, displays the error message : Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. And, at times, pictures don't show up. I'd say this happens three out of four times when I try to go to another webpage. And probably nine out of ten times with the graphics not showing up.

It looks like Firefox worked. I don't really like it. A bit confusing. If I uninstall/reinstall Internet Explorer would that clear it up, assuming that my IE has a glich in it?

You can uninstall IE 9 but IE is a part of Windows and cannot be uninstalled.
After you uninstall Internet Explorer 9, the previously installed version of IE will be there to be used if necessary.
