I am having trouble with IE9. It is so slow opening any page, and it seems to hang half open for ages. It only started last week and seemed to correspond with me updating Super Antispyware. I do use Firefox as well and have no problem with it. I have run SAS and Malwarebytes after this happened with nothing untoward showing. Any help would be appreciated.

It is my understanding that Microsoft is having trouble with IE right now. In fact I know two 'tech experts" advise their followers to not use IE for the time being and to change to Google Chrome or Fire Fox.,..

I'm using IE8 and IE9 in 6 computers and don't have any problems with slow webpage loading.

I'm also using Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and SUPERAntiSpyware in all 6 of them.

Unless you have a slow connection and too many IE add-ons, there's probably some other reason for it.

flavallee, I was hoping to see a familiar 'old' face' on here Would you be able to help me try to find the problem? I have an NBN (National Broadband Network) satellite connection which has recently been upgraded in July to all new components and while it is faster than my old satellite connection it probably still isn't comparable to what others can get, but I am in a rural area. Another laptop I have here doesn't seem to be having the issue with IE that I am having.

When I noticed you're in Australia, I was hoping you aren't in the "boonies" (or whatever they call it there) and limited to using 56K dial-up.

I've got no experience with satellite connections, so hopefully someone who does can assist you.

You might also consider having your thread moved to the NETWORKING section.

I don't believe it is my network connection because Firefox and Chrome are working brilliantly on this laptop, and IE is working on my old desktop and another laptop we have here.

We are about 200km (124 miles) from our capital city of Adelaide, so no, not quite the outback!

Hey guys

Just a suggestion here but if you do not have any issues while using Firefox, I would say it's more likely to be an issue with a Plug-In or Toolbar rather than a networking or ISP issue.

A Few Things to Try

1. Resetting Internet Explorer 9 to default settings (Instructions here)

2. Microsoft has a Fix-it for Internet Explorer 9 performance issues that might take care of the issue. You can find it here.

3. Microsoft has another Fix-it for Internet Explorer 9 hanging and freezing. You can find it here.

**Disclaimer: Flavallee is obviously way more experienced than me and I may be totally off. But it's worth a shot

Thanks for your input tiberriver256, I had a bit of a look previously at resetting IE9 but didn't do it, will have a look at all your suggestions and see how it goes. I should add that I am quite impressed with how Chrome works with Facebook and the game of Scrabble and Words with Friends I play through there. Much quicker than when IE9 was working properly!
