When i go into c:\ drive and change view to show hidden, i can make a short cut to put on the desktop, but it will not delete items from the recycle bin? it will still play the "emptying bin" sound.
Its the same with the recycle bin from the sidebar, i get the "calculating files to be deleted" box, then it plays the emptying bin sound, but i still have files in the recycle bin?
Also with the short cut, it does not ask for conformation about file deletion, when trying to empty it.
any help as to where or how to replace the original recycle bin back to desktop would be much appreciated
i have gone through the system registry, but have had no luck
please note, that the recycle bin is not in the recycle bin (if that makes sence)
and that i can not use a system restore or i will lose hours of coding work (please do not ask for details as to my coding work as i can not disclose them) | See DaveBrandons post . It works! | | Member with 70 posts. | | Join Date: Jun 2004 Location: suffolk england Experience: Beginner |

If you check the registry you will see that the registry key is still there. which was the case when i deleted my Bin by mistake
Here is the correct way to go by it. And mind you this is for Vista, right click on the desktop then click personalize, once there look to the left pane near the top and click Change Desktop Icons, this is where you choose which icons you want to appear on your desktop, close/OK out and you're all done. |

#20 | Hello,
A google search lead me to this site. I feel much better now knowing that Iam not the only one who deleted Rycycle Bin.
My blood was boiling , my heart was palpitating and skipping beats as I was trying to get me recycle bin back. Thank to you WHB456....I can relax...now. Your instructions are very easy. I got my recycle bin back after only one attempt.

#21 | As all the posters are aware, this has happened because Vista has incorporated , in the Recycle Bin drop down menu, the item "Delete". It is too easy, when you are in a hurry, to point there instead of emptying the Bin.
There is a small registry patch which can be used (Believe me - it's safe!) which will remove that delete item from the menu. After all, it has no practical function.

#30 | all you have to do is create a new user account and copy the recycling bin as another shortcut and then you put the copied bin in the public download folder and take it out there and then it works | THIS THREAD HAS EXPIRED.
