Anapod Explorer
On my previous systems I have used Anapod Explorer instead of iTunes, greater freedom.

Does anyone know if it is compatible with Vista?

Also same question for VLC media payer.

Cheers

I use As-U-Type on my XP SP2 and I love it. (Version 3.2). It does not work with Vista - they say they are working on a Vista update. I have not tried it in compatible mode. I surely do miss it on Vista - it is a great program that automatically corrects your spellings while you type (and other things).

I use Multiplicity which allows me to use one keyboard and one mouse to control three computers and three screens. I can run the mouse from screen to screen. I have it on the Vista and can control it and two XP SP2.

I am using a Beta of an excellent backup program called SyncBackSE on Vista and it seems to be working OK - but not yet ready for real time - I am still getting frequent updates. One of the best companies I have ever worked with.

I use a Samsung CLP 510 that works with Vista when it is connected to Vista. It networks fine to my XP computers. However I cold not get it to network when connected to XP SP2. It would print but no controls (color, paper, etc.) on Vista. Support is almost non-existent.

Avast Antivirus - works fine on Vista and it is free.

RoboForm works on Vista OK.

JV16 Power Tools 1.5.2.350 seems to work OK on Vista although I have not used most of the things it offers.

IE Spell works OK with Vista for correcting spelling.

I have been using Speech Recognition in Vista Home Premium and it works as well as any of the other Commercial programs. Gets a little practice but if you are a slow typist it will be a help. I am a fairly fast typist but make a lot of mistakes that have to be corrected. Speech makes it cleaner but I don't know if it saves time. I selectively use it.

I also use the Gadgets and Gadget bar available on Vista. Lots of choices of Gadgets. I use about a dozen of them.

APC has Vista files on their web - may not be in their UPS's on the shelf.

I have Snag-it 8 on Vista but not enough experience to say if there is any problems - but OK so far.

Hope the above helps someone - I have no connection to any of the companies - just things I have found that help.

Does Windows Office 2003 work in Vista?
I have a friend who wants to keep using Windows Office 2003 because he wants to share files with colleagues who are still on the Windows Office 2003 platform.

Can Windows Office 2003 run in Vista? Thanks for your input. :-)

To answer the question , yes 2003 will run on Vista. Office 2007 is also compatible with Office 2003 file formats too. You might also want to look at this update that would help 2003 users use 2007 file formats.

If you mainly use that program for web browsing, Firefox 2.0 has that built right in.

Is "Multiplicity" another word for KVM switch? Multiplicity sounds like a program allows you to switch between computers.

Activesync and Vista
Helllllpppp??

I have just purchased a new laptop and am using Vista home premium. i also have a HP IPAQ handheld smartphone.

It would appear that Activesync is not compatible with Vista (yet). There is a thing in Vista called synccenter, but as i have found, it is not possible to sync contacts or appointments between the sync platforms.

Does anyone know of a way round this or am i stuck with this problem until microsoft sort it out.

Not that I am aware of. You might try exporitng the contacts into an Excel or .csv file and then copy to the phone and do an import that way.

New Vista Doesn't seem to like POGO games or anything else I try to run. Had to buy upgrade for Quickbooks and now I have to try to get Norton and Office to run. What's wrong with Vista? Why can't we just run the usual programs....even internet ones??

I'm not sure how much this bit of information will help anyone else but for other information, do not install Daemon Tools 3.47 on Vista, you will restart it and it will blue screen and you'll say some choice words and wish you wouldn't have installed it.
