Or she could...

Start the computer in safe mode. Login as admin. There will be the option to change account passwords or add a new account.

Please give me some idea on how to debug his passwords etc that's keeping me from enjoying my computer. Thank you so much.

Sorry but the site rules have recently been amended and we cannot provide any assistance with passwords as we cannot verify the situation or the intent.

horsecharles,

I've edited your post no. 60 as it was not appropriate material for a family oriented site. Please be more careful in the future.

Thanks for understanding.

Is it true that the new MS Vista will not work with older printers? You have to buy new printers if you buy a new computer with this on or if you upgrade to this application/

I bought my 970cxi HP quite some time ago and have a new laptop with Vista, and it worked first time, including auto duplexing.

What really works with Vista?
My client just bought a new vista home PC.

I will be installing it for her tomorrow and would like to know any tricks or pitfalls to use and or avoid based on your actual experience. Which if any of the following utility software from XP sp 2 will work or not work with Vista.

If you are hoping or guessing or quoting sales literature please don't answer

BitDefender V8 free
SpySweeper 5.1
CFW 2.4
CCleaner
Register Mechanic 6.0
Perfect Disk 8
Paragon Drive Back up 8.51
Paragon Manager 8.51
SpywareBlaster
MRU Blaster

Thank you in advance!

New Question and Update
New question: Can win xp sp2 support a 64 bit PC?

Here are the results of my research so far:

My client just bought a new vista home PC.

I will be installing it for her tomorrow and would like to know any tricks or pitfalls to use and or avoid based on your actual experience. Which if any of the following utility software from XP sp 2 will work or not work with Vista.

If you are guessing or quoting sales literature please don't answer. ;D

Works: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.4 (32/64-bit)

Works: Microsoft Outlook 2003 (32-bit)

Works: Symantec Norton Antivirus 2007 - NOTE: Download the latest version, more info here (32-bit and 64-bit)
Works: Symantec Norton Internet Security 2006/2007 - NOTE: Download the latest version, more info here (32-bit and 64-bit)
Works: Symantec Norton 360 Beta360 is out and work great on my 64-bit vista ultimate

Suspect it won't Work: BitDefender V8 free?
Works: Softwin Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 10 Build 247 (32-bit)

Works: Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic (32-bit)
Works: Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Premium 7.00.04.13 (32-bit)
Works with solvable problems: Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic v7.03.00.15 -- update function must be manual started as Admin (C:/Program Files/AntiVit/preupd.exe)

Works: Spy Sweeper v5.3 (32-bit)

Works: Vista Firewall Control (native 32 and 64 bits) Incoming/outcoming program control

Works: ZoneAlarm 7.1.078.000 free (32-bit only)

Works: Comodo Firewall Pro 3.0.2.5 (alpha) x86 - x64 versions ( necessary your registry in the comodo forum to download this alpha version)

Works with solvable problems: COMODO Firewall Pro 2.4.5.111 BETA (32-bit) -- Seems to work fine despite warnings from Vista to the contrary during installation. Setup EXE file must be run in Windows XP compatibility mode.

Doesn't work: CFW 2.4

AI RoboForm Roboform v6.8.4 (32-bit works fine, with 64-bit you must use 32-bit version of Internet Explorer)

Works: CCleaner v1.38+, Piriform CCleaner v1.37.456 and newer

Unknown Basic Level support vendor claimed Register Mechanic 6.0

Works: Raxco PerfectDisk v8.0 build 48 (32/64-bit) and newer

Works: Paragon Drive Backup Personal v8.5

Works: Paragon Partition Manager 8.5

Works: Piriform CCleaner v1.37.456 and newer
What operating systems does CCleaner work with?
Fully tried and tested with Windows 95/98/NT4/ME/2000/XP/2003/Vista.
It's currently partially compatible with 64bit Windows XP, there are a few non-critical issues which are still being worked on. There are no Mac or Linux versions.

Works: Javacool Software SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 (32-bit/64-bit)

MRU Blaster

Works: Lavasoft Ad-aware SE Personal v1.06 (32-bit/64-bit)

Works: Spybot Search & Destroy v1.4 (32-bit)

Works: Dragon Naturally Speaking 9.5 Standard and Preferred (Free download for owners US_Only version)
Major Issues/Not working: Dragon Naturally Speaking 9

Major Issues: System Mechanic 7.0 / PRO 7.0 - before the main setup (after detecting Internet connection), an error message that tells "7.0 is not supported Vista, 7.1 or later is required" is received. But, SM 7.1 has not been produced yet. -- this error message can be fixed by selecting "Windows XP Service Pack 2" at compability list of SM's main setup file. but before the main setup starts, an error message "Failure Code: 323-A. An unexcepted error was encountered while initializing SM PRO." appears. Iolo's website said once Windows Vista is released to the public then the products will update to Vista compatible products.

Q: Is it true that the new MS Vista will not work with older printers? You have to buy new printers if you buy a new computer with this on or if you upgrade to this application/

A: Depends on the printer, u need to go to the manufacturers site to see if there are Vista drivers

Q: How to replace Vista with XP?

A: Take out Vista and install XP? Easy.......format and clean install with your retail copy of XP!!

Q: Dameon Tools

A: I'm not sure how much this bit of information will help anyone else but for other information, do not install Daemon Tools 3.47 on Vista, you will restart it and it will blue screen and you'll say some choice words and wish you wouldn't have installed it.

Q: Can Windows Office 2003 run in Vista? Thanks for your input. :-)

A: To answer the question , yes 2003 will run on Vista. Office 2007 is also compatible with Office 2003 file formats too. You might also want to look at this update that would help 2003 users use 2007 file formats.

Q: what work for me!

A: Avast Antivirus - works fine on Vista and it is free.

RoboForm works on Vista OK.

JV16 Power Tools 1.5.2.350 seems to work OK on Vista although I have not used most of the things it offers.

IE Spell works OK with Vista for correcting spelling.

I have been using Speech Recognition in Vista Home Premium and it works as well as any of the other Commercial programs. Gets a little practice but if you are a slow typist it will be a help. I am a fairly fast typist but make a lot of mistakes that have to be corrected. Speech makes it cleaner but I don't know if it saves time. I selectively use it.

Q: Does Paragon 32 bit mc support vista?

A: Posted: Mon Mar 12, 2007 4:10 pm Post subject: Paragon Partition Manager 8.5 with Vista 32bit support.
Paragon Partition Manager 8.5 with Vista 32bit support is released. Any feedback and problem discussion is welcome in this topic. The features of PM8.5 are the same as in PM8.0, only Vista support is added.
