I checked the compatibility list and did not see any of my current spyware programs listed.I use Spyware Detector and Spybot S+D and Adaware. Even my cuurrent 2002 version of Norton won't work. Should I just wait until they are all listed before making the switch?-how much trouble is it to burn?

Windows Defender will work and is free. Also, One Care Live Beta 2 is out to the public for free for a limited time.

Windows Defender is nothing like the total security I get with Norton-I really don't want to throw out my current programs to upgrade. I paid too much for them.Think I'll hold off until everything runs good on Vista-thanks for the info-

Hi:

I built my list for my software, it is NOT a complete list!
The main source I had was:

http://www.iexbeta.com/wiki/index.ph...atibility_List

So refer to that source and to MS site on the same subject, sorry I don't have that link handy.

OK-IChecked The List
It looks like about 30% of my software is on the list.I use well known programs and it may be they are just not on the list for some reason. I'll check their sites and find out before switching from XP to Vista. They should all work' eventually-thanks for the help.

64 bit and 32 bit PC's
Just a note that some vista compatible software eg Paragon DB 8.51 works on vista on 32 bit machines but not yet on 64 bit machines.

Make sure before you order/install what bit type you have before proceeding with a specific piece of software. The lists here and elsewhere are good BUT verify with vendor site yourself.

Checking takes time but it will save pain and time in the end.

months late hope you got it fixed but here's what I had to do

The iTunes/QuickTime installer will fail with a "VBScript not installed" error on some installations of Vista. I'm not sure exactly what leads to this situation as it does not seem to affect all Vista users, but there is a relatively simple fix:

Click Start, All Programs, Accessories then right click on Command Prompt and select "Run as Administrator"
cd to your windows\system32 directory
enter the following command:

regsvr32 vbscript.dll

This will re-register VBScript and allow the iTunes installer to run.

Tsst Dvd Rw/cd Rom
I just got a new Dell 9200 w/Vista last week, anyways problem/question?? I loaded various games printer software etc no problem - however when I went to use the drive again approx 20 minutes after the last time I used it, the dvd drive would not work (the tray opens, closes and the light flickers) then nothing. I checked in Device manager and it has the yellow triangle with explanation point. Under properties it says can not find device driver (code 39) however when I search my system for a driver it says it is the lastest driver and is good to go. Any thoughts - could the drive be shot even though the tray opens and closes etc
DELL is sending a new drive for me to install

Thoughts

OK for some reason, my Medal Of Honour: Allied Assault does not work on Vista. I run it, and then it crashes and Problem Reports starts up.
