Smile Quicktime
I see that the Quicktime people are looking for vista users feedback. Although i have not had it installed for long i have (as i told them) I have had no problems with version 7 what so ever.

All the talk about vista not being compatible is putting people off i think.
I know that people said Microsoft ripped of Mac Os. Good for microsoft I say. They are learners as well.

I may well be back with my tail between my legs but so far..
Im "Lovin it lovin it lovin it"

Speaking of being dyslexic, I think I have a dyslexic dog that does not believe in God.

Quicktime 7 is just fine in Vista, even the upgraded full version. Yea, I shelled out the $29.95 so I could watch Prison Break on the big screen over here in Europe.

Hi jmwills
Woof woof He must be pree, reincarnation of myself
As my main computer use is FSX I have not yet had the courage to upgrade .Microsoft as said we will not benifit with vista untill DirectX ten is patched to work with FSX.
But I think that this time next year all the troubles will be over.
Regards
Rex.

Vista and Webroot Spy Sweeper 5.3.
For the record I use Webroot Spy Sweeper 5.3 and XP SP2.

FYI, on their alert page for general information they have posted the following:

"Important Update: Spy Sweeper® with AntiVirus is now compatible with Windows Vista

Webroot® Software Inc. has released Spy Sweeper with AntiVirus version 5.3, this new version has been optimized to improve performance and is compatible with Microsoft’s new operating system, Windows Vista™ (version 5.3 continues to support Windows 2000 and XP). To receive your FREE upgrade, click "Check for Updates" on the home screen of Spy Sweeper."

Having found a RK in SM7 recently, (I reverted to SM6), I ran 3 rootkit finders on to see if SS, uses RK's. Results were:

1) BD 10 reported no root kits
2) F-Secures BlackLight, reported no rootkits
3) RKU found things on BD 10 and ZA Pro with hooked and hidden processes plus a bunch of other entries which I can't decode, so I'll submit them to the official RKU forum for study. Since some of those MAY relate to SS.

What I would like to better understand at some point is there ever a valid technical reason for using RK's hooks, and / or hidden processes?

Does anybody know the answer to this?:-\

Adobe Elements 5 works fine BUT it needs a Vista patch from Adobe...apply that and its plain sailing.

Wish I could say the same about my HP Printer.. the Vista driver is quite basic and does not have some of the features I use. HP say it will be April before full featured Vista drivers are available, and there's no guarantee that there will be Vista drivers for older models.

I've wiki'd and googled and followed the links here but could not find anything regarding compatibility of Acid Pro 6 and Vista. I know Acid Pro 4 just refuses to work -well ok Vista refuses to let it work but I can still run it on my XP laptop, so I'm not entirely SOL and need to upgrade anyway, but if it's not compatible yet, I don't want to spend the $ on it right now. Acid forums didn't yield any positive hits either...

Acid Pro
Mmmm thats interesting. I was just thinking of migrating my Acid Pro 5 over to my Vista machine. I do not use it as much these days.

Does it install on your vista machine? If so have you tried to Run as Administrator?

May i ask what you mainly use Acid Pro for?

Regards.

Dyslexic guy walks into a bra . . .

Seriously though, a friend is asking me for a music proggy for her new Vista. I use iTunes (on XP) myself but I checked here:
http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=792
and it looks as if it might be a no go for now.
Specifically this topic:
iTunes 7.1 - Windows Vista
Anybody know one that works with Vista? I don't see one listed on that MS page.

Thanks.
