Wrong Movie Maker
There is a compatibility issue between Vista with Movie Maker 6 and some graphic cards. Problems with Movie Maker 6 usualyy can ve rectified by downloading and using Movie Maker 2.6 which was put out there for this problem but never eally advertised. Or you can upgrade your gaphic card.

I've just bought a Radeon HD 2600 PRO card and thats one of the best cards out and it still doesnt work. Vista sucks, I only got it because of the DirectX 10

Ok I've found the solution. http://blog.stevex.net/index.php/200...comment-170956

Rename this file:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter

to anything and it should work. Worked for me.

Kannan, i'm having the same problem and don't know what to do, if you find an answer please post, I've been looking all over the net for an answer.

Why would a new machine come bundled with Vista and Movie Maker 6 if it doesn't work?

Baffled.

I have a problem with Windows Movie Maker 6 crashing my computer. I did not have this problem for 6 months, but now I can’t get rid of it!
When publishing a movie, the movie will start and then between 17% and 50% (it changes everytime I try) the entire computer shuts off.
I have an HP a6110n , running Vista premium.

I did a complete system restore to factory settings…still crashes
I tried using Movie Maker 2…still crashes
I tried installing ffdshow…still crashes
I tried using TMPenc Plus…still crashes
I tried using Ulead Movie Studio trial…still crashes
Today I bought an ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO, installed it, ran Movie Maker again…still crashes
And that’s the only other hardware I installed on this machine.
I wrote HP and email and am waiting for a reply.
I want to blame Nvidia because of the recent press about Vista crashes, I want to blame AMD because of the problems I had with their chips in the 90’s.
But all I really want is a cure!
