Clean Install vs Factory Install
I purchased a new DELL XPS 410 with Windows Vista preinstalled. I've tried to reinstall Window XP because of the compatibility issues. I'd rather wait until the black patch is released and the system is tighter before installing it back. I had problems trying to install Windows XP, I kept getting an error message after the drivers finished installing just after the Setup screen. I could never get any further. Since I wasn't able to install Windows XP back would a clean installation of Windows Vista be better than that from factory? I know that it wouldn't have all the extra program baggage that comes with the new systems but other than this would it be better? Thanks in advance for any help I can get

It gave a lot of codes and said that it was stopping me from going a further so not to due any damage. Something to that effect.

I would clean install it without any of their extra programs...what compatibility problems were you having?

I've been having compatibility problems with different software programs, Spyware Doctor, Ad-Aware Plus etc. Yes, I have used the check the block in the properties of the software but it didn't seem to make a difference.

Drivers are probably only available for Vista for that computer.
