My vista laptop is in reduced functionality mode, how do I access the command prompt?
I know you can type slmgr -rearm to continue using the trial period for a total of 120 days. However, I can't get to the command prompt, as all I see is the web browser. Is there a shortcut command or something I can do to get to the command prompt? Microsoft has said your allowed to do it, but I haven't used the computer in a few days and forgot to type it in.

Also, is there a way I could save all my files and unistall vista and reinstall XP? A lot of things don't work right with it. The main reason I want to keep it activated is just to save all my files and settings.

All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt

Or, enable run from your task bar, then type in cmd to open command prompt

Also... worse come worse.. just slave the hard drive to retrieve your data.

How do I get to all programs? When I log in it brings up a web browser, and when I minimize that there is no start menu, and I don't know how to get to anything, including the command prompt. How do you slave a laptop hard drive?

Sorry, i misinterpreted your question. When you are in reduced functionality mode it means your version of vista is basically jacked. All you can do is access the web... as Microsoft has stated. Have you tried going into safe mode?

What i would do to slave a laptop hard drive is purchase a usb to hdd reader which can read your laptop hard drive, and plug it into any computer to retrieve your data.... I am not sure whether you would be able to access these files if they were encrypted by Vista...
