zone alarm is not compatible with vista. does anyone know when it will be? what internet security software would you recommend for now?

Zonealarm is a firewall, not an antivirus. Avast works with Vista and is free.

Zone alarm is available in a security suite and yes it has anti virus.

I use and recommend nod32; it works very well with vista. If you want a free AV app, avast works well also.

does McAfee slow your computer down considerably? i remember i used it before and it made my pc slow. i want something that wont suck all of my resources

Both avast and nod32 use very little in the way of system resources. Between the two, I prefer nod32 over avast. Avast does have one thing in its favor; it is free

I have McAfee runnning... on XP when I had little memory.. sure it seemed like that... but now with Vista and having 2gb memory... it runs in the background fine.

With Vista's recommended 2gb of memory... u have enough memory to do anything

I have never tried AVG. Would you say it is good because of the fact that it is free as well, or do you say it as in it is really good? Would it be better, quality, than a purchased virus software.?

I have found it to be as good as most of the bought ones - and better than many.
It certainly does not clog up your system with overblown and often difficult to remove commercial c@{p.
