Displaying my computer on my TV ?
I have a Sapphire X1950 Pro Graphics card, and it has two DVI outputs. I want to display my computer on my monitor, and on my TV at the same time. Am i correct in thinking that all i need to do is have 1 DVI cable going to my monitor, and 1 to my Plasma TV ? If so, what do I do next in order to see the output on both, because at the moment, i have a dvi cable going to each display, but i only see my computer output on my monitor, and not on the TV ?

Please help.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Personalization > Display Settings

From here you can select to use both monitors.

There may also be other options inside your graphics card control panel.

You can also open up the ATI Catalyst Control Center and configure multiple displays there, as well as add optional/custom resolutions/refresh rates for the output. Those settings are under the Display Manager section.

Of course you must have the ATI drivers from their website installed rather then the ATI drivers provided with Vista or thru the Microsoft Update site.

Or if going thru the Personalize > Display Settings route, you need to right click on the second monitor and select Attached.

Maybe you have just answered my next question Triple6 ? I was going to mention that now I have got the display working on both my computer monitor and TV Screen, I find that there is a noticable screen flicker in the top quarter of the screen. It sort of blurs the video when there is a fast moving scene. Could this be due to refresh rates, or resolutions or something along these lines. Just to clarify, this flicker does not happen on my LCD computer monitor. Just on my 42" Plasma display.

My thoughts are that the plasma, being a lot bigger, needs to have a different resolution setting, or different refresh rate to the 21" LCD computer monitor ?

Am i right ? or is there something im missing ?

Thanks for the quick reply s4baz ! Would you be able to tell me what I need to do to fix this problem. Is it the refresh rate, or the resolution I need to change ?

Whats the model of your TV? Is the connection pure DVI on both ends or do you have any converters on the DVI cable?

If you have the manual it might tell you the recommended resolutions and refresh rate.

My TV is a 42" Samsung Plasma. I dont know the model number until i get home. Do i change the refresh rates and resolution is ATI Catalyst Control Centre, or in the TV itself ?

Also, the connection on my TV is a VGA input, so the is a dvi to vga adapter on one end of the cable.

Do you really need to watch both at the same time? If not, I suggest setting up profiles for each display in Catalyst. Then you can easily switch back and forth using the Catalyst tray tool or you can assign hotkeys to each profile.

Displaying the same image on two displays is clone mode which requires identical resolutions and refresh rates on both displays.

You can have independent resolutions and refresh rates for each monitor.

You change the resolution and refresh rate in the ATI Catalyst Control Center. Check the manual to see if they have recommended settings for PC input.
