VLC Media Player and Vista Ultimate
I just wondered if anyone had any news on getting VLC Media Player to work in Windows Vista ? I have seen some posts that say that you need to change the output to various different settings, like OpenGL etc.

I did find on a torrent site, a version of VLC Media Player that was designed for Vista, however I cant find this version on their website.

Does anyone know how long we will have to wait until there is a release for Vista ?

Why would you use a Torrent site to download VLC?

VLC works for me. I just had to enable DirectX as mentioned here: http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?t=32513
That link also has a download for the beta version of VLC.

VLC + Vista Ultimate
I tried the fix in the forum, and even uninstalled and reinstalled it and get nowhere. Anyone else find another fix for it?

is that the case in general or just with one particular file?

although VLC does support most formats out of the box, some files files still require the installation of certain codecs.

I had the same problem but when I downloaded version 0.86a i changed the Output method into Windows GDI Video Output and all movies, tv shows are working perfect.

My strange and only problem is that the mous gestures don't work anymore. I can only click left ( or u can choose right ) on my BT mouse and then pauze, fforward, etc through the VLC interface.

Before, In XP, with any wireless mouse I could go to preferences, Interface, Click on Advaced Options and select Mouse Wheel Up for Play and Pause and Mouse Wheel Down for FForward. VLC doesn't respond to this anymore.

Anyone any idea why ?

I've been using 0.86b in Vista since the beginning and was not aware that there were any problems with it. It works perfectly for me.

You would need to have OpenGL if you wanted to change the output type. Does your display adapter (and more importantly, its drivers) support OpenGL?
