Solved: Best DVD Burning Software
I am trying to find a software which is good at burning ISO images, copying DVD's, mainly rewritables, burning CD's, and occasionaly backing up some favorite movies..

What would you recommend as a good software that is known to work with Vista?

Also, what is a good DVD Player?

I have used InterVideo in the past... but never on XP.

What would you recommend?

Personally, I like Alcohol 120% for burning/copying etc, IMGBurn is also good (and free) for burning. As for DVD playback, the Intervideo one is good though I too haven't tried that on Vista, I currently use VLC for pretty much everything, which works great

As you are in Vista, I guess that is what you are looking for. I used to believe in Nero, but they have not quite got it worked out yet and it has a few problems. It is also, in the latest (Vista compatible) edition, terribly bloated with many add ons which are not strictly ralated to Burning. I have now gone to Ashampoo whic, on first use, seems to be pretty good. I use magiciso for burning iso's quicker than most burning "suites"

As long as you stay away from the real known "cheapies" , I think all burners are about the same quality these days. Maybe you should be looking for a double layer?

I use Nero and it works great. It has many added features in addition to burning like an additional media center and offers DVD playback. You can install only the parts you want or need if you do a custom install.

I second Nero, Works GREAT!! (and looks really cool cause startsmart is using Aero )
I use the new K-lite mega codec pack and install media player classic. It will play anything Including DVD's.
Also, use alcohol for burning images.

Both are poison s4baz....and whatever you do be certain one is totally out before installing the other as they do not play well together.
Personally I prefer Sonic though in Vista, I am delighted none of those awful programs are necessary.

Not Roxio
I am also a vista user. I DO not suggest using Roxio, as their support (drivers and updates) for Vista are very limited at this time.
