Booting Vista Problem
hi I need help. When I start computer it takes almost 2-3 min before the manager appears.
I have put this issue before but did not got response. I have tried disable the boot from floopy drive but problem still persists.I have even installed vista only without any other operating system but still it takes 2-3 min to boot.In 2-3 min my system is never busy that is its red light remains off. Without vista my system boots in just 3 seconds. I am not understanding the cause of the problem. This is the problem with both 32 and 64 bit Vista.
My computer specs are:
Intel Pentum D 3 ghz
intel D945GNTL Mother Board
80 gb Hard Drive
Fx 7300 gt 256mb Graphics Card
My Vista base score is 4.4.
Please Help me as this is an important issue that should be solved.

Here's a couple of offerings
If you have any USB hardware, try unplugging it and see if the speed of the POST increases, if so, have a look in the BIOS to see if you have selected the correct configuration. Whilst there, make sure the Hard disk/Partition, that Vista is on, is the first available boot device.

I THINK(?) he means the Post part boots to the boot.ini (or whatever) in that time.

What antivirus program are you using? Do you ever see it come up when you bootup saying it updated ? I have the same slowness though not 3 minutes, and I noticed I don't ever see notice of antivirus updating, and it might be because it is doing so before bootup as it is always up to date.

I don't think it could update the Anti-virus during post? It would need the Internet connection to be established first. (Assuming, still, that he is referring to the POST part of the procedure?)

Not talking about post but process to bootup. And I have seen Linux on the internet prior to actual desktop.

Yes. I am well aware of what you are talking about! But, if I read the originators post correctly, he is referring to the POST, and including the MBR, up to the appearance of the bootmng. You reference to Linux, "prior to the desktop", does not seem , to me, to fit into the context of this thread at all, if I am correct. In any case, he seems to have gone, at least for the moment.
