Has anyone figured a permanent fix to this problem yet? It just happened to me yesterday, wasn't installing anything and otherwise the computer seems to be running fine. I had switched my computer off after leaving it on for a couple of days and when I re-powered all it opened was the documents folder. I can get it to restore through a new explorer.exe in task manager but it only works until the next restart. Anyone know how to fix this permanently?

Vista ... missing desktop
Hello all sufferers,

This week I've just had the same desktop problem and used aforementioned quick resolve ... Control > Shift > Esc ... Task Manager > File > New Task > and typing Explorer into the box. This brought the desktop back instantly. Rebooting has since been successful.

I must add that immediately prior to doing the above action, I had done a full Virus (CA) check which revealed no problems. I then followed this by doing a deep Spyware check ('Max-Secure') which revealed 3 Critical Threats (Adware.Agent) (Adware.Websearch) (Trojan.Agent)!!
Also there were 2 High Threats (Flooder.RoomDestroyer) (Keylogger.Winspy). All threats were quarantined and then deleted.

I think that the Trojan.Agent may have been the cause of the problem, just sitting hidden and re-activating the fault.

Any thoughts?

JagAlan
