I need help trying to get my laptop to read cds or picture cds. I install a cd or vidio and nothing happens it wont show on my screen. I try looking in my computer but can not find anything to help me. I bought a book that shows me how to install autoplay but nothing happens., so if anyone can help I would apriciate it. A walk threw would help.

Control panel -> Program -> Default Programs

Third one down should be "Change AutoPlay settings"

Your solution should/could be in here ...

What are you trying to do exactly? Can you just open the CD in Computer and start the videos by clicking on them?

Most burning programs will automatically disable autoplay since it interferes with some parts of the burning cycle.

Look in the options of your CD burning software to see if that option is set.

But, if that option is set in your burning program, or any other, then it will return to being turned off unless you can change the setting.

You might also run regedit and look here:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoDriveTyp eAutoRun

If the key is present, the default value is 149. If it is 255, autoplay is disabled.

Try the registry tweak I gave. Do you know how to do that?

Is there some particular program you use to burn CD's, or do you know what program in your computer does that?

I'll try to make it simple. Download the attached zip file, unzip it, and double-click the reg file inside. That should turn on your autorun.
