Windows Movie Maker, audio no video
Trying to import .mgp files into Windows Movie Maker 6.0 running with Vista Home.

All I can get to import is the audio from the video, no picture at all.

I've tried importing directly from my camera, and loading thru the disc... Sony Handycam minidisc...

I've can watch the video on the video viewer, but can't get them into WMM...

PLEASE HELP!

Thank you very much.

I installed the Standard pack, however it still will not import properly. I can see that it is going thru the new program, yet only giving me the audio again.

I'm not 100% sure that I did it correctly, was not able to view the guide as it states the server was not found. I read thru the FAQ and think that I did I was supposed to.

Any additional ideas would be greatly appreciated.

in device manager....are there any yellow exclamation marks?

Can you watch all other forms of video on your pc or is it just with the camera?

I dont know anything about your sony but have you updated any drivers with it that are vista compatible..just an idea!

What is the model and number of your sony?

Thank You
Thank you all for your help.
I never did figure it out the glitch with WMM, but I was able to download another program, and am having no problems with it.
Thank you all again for your time and effort on my account.

Unhappy I'm having the same issue on XP Media Centre
I have a recorded TV program that I converted from .dvr-ms to .mpg using DVRMSToolbox. When I import it into Movie Maker, I get sound only, no video. I'm able to play the converted video in both Windows Media Player and Media Centre, but it just won't show in Movie Maker. There's a specific segment I want to clip out...

I am experiencing exactly the same problem as smithron99. When I open the sample .dvr-ms files that came with vista (or ones that I record off the air using Media Center) in Movie Maker 6.0, only the audio will play, the video shows up as a green screen. The .dvr-ms files do play properly in Media Center or in Media Player. Movie maker will open the sample .wmv files that came with vista and plays both the audio and video correctly. Any suggestions on how to debug or fix would be appreciated.

I had same problems even though I tried to install all the programs that were indicated. Would you mind to tell me which one are you currently using instead of WMM? Thank you.

I finally found the solution to my problem described above. I upgraded the video driver for my ATI card from version 7.7 to version 7.10 and the problem went away.
