Question Jumbled Icons in Vista?????
Hi All

My first post so be gentle I have just installed Vista over XP on my Dell laptop when I first looked all my icons seemed to be where they should be.... I found that my antivirus (McAfee's) wasn't now compatible so just temporary I looked on the net for a free one that would work for now (stick with me) I found NOD32 which I tried to install but it didn't like Vista so I uninstalled it, could this have caused my icons to change for instance for my folder icons I have a search icon etc?...

They aren't all different mainly the folder icons and if I change views some of the folders show properly and some don't, some of the icons are showing the one that says it can't find a programs to run the file but when I click on it, it will open fine, there isn't any problems except that the icons are jumbled?

Any ideas how I can get my lovely icons back any help would be really appreciated?

The pics show on the left and right should nearly all be folder icons I have tried right clicking the icons going to properties and changing the icon but they wont change?

This is just a display option. In the blank area on the right side of the screen, right click. Go to "View" and choose details. That will get you back to the way you were.

Also, if you right click and go to Arrange, then you can arrange the icons by size, name, date, etc.

Hi Matt

Thanks for the info but it isn't a view I need to change (pic 1 is Details view, pic 2 is right clicking and choosing Medium Icons) it's the icons that are wrong for the files the're with i.e. I have folder files that have a search icon as in the pics instead of a folder?

Oh ok, I see now. Is it possible that you changed in option somewhere in the index settings or view settings to show the files and folders that are indexed? That icon is associated with windows indexing. I don't know if such an option exists, but just a thought.
