How do I delete an Icon in my system tray?

I downloaded an application and saved it, however I didn't like it, so I deleted it from my Vista "downloads" folder and recycle bin, but can't understand how to permanently delete it from appearing in my system's tray when I turn on my laptop.

Thank you, friends!

Have you uninstalled the program through the Control Panel? Go to --> Start --> Control Panel and under the 'Programs' section, click 'Uninstall a Program'.

Look for the same program that you downloaded that you want to get rid of and double-click it to uninstall it completely from your computer. Follow the prompts to completely uninstall it. Hope that helps.

Then if it is still in tray go "Run,msconfig,ok,startup"...uncheck it hit apply and reboot.

Thank you for your reply. I accidentially noticed on programs list a "uninstall" option and successfully deleted it.
