where the hell has it gone lol

i cant find run anywhere when i press the start button an i need to ping my server

By default, Run is not shown when you open the Start Menu.
To enable this:

1. Right click on the taskbar
2. Select Properties
3. Click on the Start Menu tab
4. Click on the Customize button
5. Scroll down and check Run (it's about 2/3's of the way towards the
bottom

Just to add; if you hit the Window key and the R key at the same time, this will also produce the run box.
