Can't remove second video card
I have two video cards in a machine, I want to remove one. It's an Asus with an ATI X600 chipset, the main card is a Powercolor Radeon with the ATI X1600 chipset. Abit mobo. When I removed the Asus, Vista Ultimate wouldn't boot. It gets to the loading screen with Microsoft Windows but it's grayed out, and the loading bar is empty. It just sits there. Put the card back in, it boots. Uninstall, disable, it doesn't matter what I do, as long as the card has been removed, it won't boot. Booting from the Vista OEM DVD, it automatically jumps to the Microsoft Windows loading screen after running through the initial loading files install screen. If I hit f8, there is no repair option, everything but. VGA mode won't boot without the card in, safe mode, nothing will. It won't boot from the DVD to the normal install screen to try a repair. Updated drivers, did it all again, same. The machine also has XP Pro on it, no problem whatsoever there, boots with or without, so it's not in the bios, but I have played with different setting there just to verify. Any ideas?
Thanks
