SATA2 Drive not recognised during install
Hi all,

I've just bought a Samsung 250GB SATA2 SP2504C hard drive with the intention of installing Vista on it. Problem is its not listed as one of the available drives during installation- just the other two, one of which is IDE and one is SATA. I've checked the Samsung website for Vista drivers but there are none, in fact there are no drivers full stop.

I've upgraded my SATA/RAID drivers for my mobo (Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-9), but I've stopped short of flashing the BIOS, mainly because I'm a coward. The BIOS itself doesn't list the device as an IDE drive on any slot during the first POST screen, but it is listed on the following page as a RAID drive and the BIOS also lists the drive in the "order of booting" screen.

Most annoyingly of all, I can see the drive in Windows 2000, and I've been able to format it to NTFS. I've even seen it from a Linux distro, but sodding Vista with its 1 billion drivers cant pick it up.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If it is using a Sata/raid card, you will need to load drivers during the install. I would check on the disk that came with it or on the website for a driver diskette creation tool.

You need to load the drivers.
