Question Problems with Vista
Motherboard: ASUS M2R32-MVP
Processor : AMD AM2 X2 5600
Memory : 4- 1 GB DDR2 800 MHZ ram
Video : ATI X1800 Crossfire edition 512 MB
OS : Vista Ultimate 64
HDD : 2- 80GB 7200 RMD WD SATA drives
CD-Rom : Sony DVD R/RW +-

Ok, this is what should be a pretty good system. Problem is, it takes almost 2 hours to install OS.
This is unusual in itself, as it didn't take half that long to install on a system half what this one is.
Finally got it loaded, but when I goto enter password, the screen goes black. It shows the funny green default vista desktop, then the mouse cursor, then they both fade away, screen flickers and then nothing.

It is almost like it is trying to change to a resolution the monitor won't support. I say this, because the mouse cursor is really small, before it goes black. The Bios is flashed to most current stable ASUS Bios for this board.

OK, so I format the drive and install XP Pro 64 bit that I also have. Installs no problem. Some trouble finding audio drivers for it, but thats just 64 bit thing I think. But the video has no issues in XP 64.

A little back story, the motherboard I had was RMA'd because the 5600 processor wouldn't boot. I had replaced the 5200 with the 5600, but processor wouldn't boot. So, I RMA'd the whole thing, proc, mb, and memory back to BASS Computers in Houston. Thats where I get all my parts, software, etc. Anyway, after about 3 days, they tell me the timing is off on the mb, or some such. Anyway, so they swap me out this board, as the one I had was no longer being sold by them.

On the old board, this video card worked like a champ with Vista Ultimate 64. No problems at all. With new board and new faster processor, the video is all hacked up.

Is there anything I can do that I haven't tried? I KNOW the video card is good. It works in XP 64 no problems. Same as proc and memory. XP works great. This setup blows away the minimum req for Vista.
All the parts have Vista support. Video card and MB both have Vista drivers available. This is really getting on my last nerve.

Please help.

I have the same problem. I think that the problem is in the mainboard.
My configuration is:
ASUS M2R32-MVP
AMD AM2 X2 6000
ASUS EAH2600XT D4 HTDI 256M
4x1GB 800Mhz Kingston
500GB Maxtor SATA
Everything is works but too slowly. I wait about 5-6 minutes may be 10, before I can do something. Then I can open explorer or something else and also wait 5-10minutes to begin.
I don't install any drivers because it is too nervous for me. I can't understand why it is so slowly.
