HP health check
I recently ran a HP Health check on my system and it scanned the computer and came up with one critical item under the maintenance category. The sympton is "HP easy setup update (0010)". I click on it to repair it and another window comes up that says topic cannot be found with this version of Windows (Vista). I don't know how to fix this problem, does anyone have any advice for me? My Health status was good, now it says "poor".

Vista has it's own health diagnositc, is that what you ran?

Control Panel > Performance Information and Tools > Advanced > Generate a System Health report.

A few other people here have posted questions about HP's own diagnostics -- and it is hard to answer questions unless you own one.

Yeah Me Too!!
I have the same problem. I tried to contact HP direct-chat(joke) and explain what was going on, this is ridiculous. How does the program that is supposed to let us know what is wrong with the computer, fail? Please post fix if you find one...I'll do the same.

Hp
Just got off direct-chat again, and I was told "Please ignore the message you are recieving, it occurs if the update is not compatible on the Notebook." GET REAL I WAS ALREADY DOING THAT!!! What a disappointment from a reputable company

I'd get rid of all that HP crap on your system if i were you. Turn it all off in msconfig too. The updater is probably just that... a program that starts up with your computer (slowing your system down), and checks the internet for updates for the diagnostic program. I seriously doubt HP's diagnostic software is really that useful or functional.

yeah u r probably right
HP tech ended up giving me a link to download hp total care advisor since this is not available from HP ..however it does work now (after seven online sessions) without initial problem I was experiencing.....But now I think I'm just going to follow your advice and several friends and just delete all hp software ...it really is just slowing comp down...my winME comp boots up faster.
link for those who may need:

To answer the initial problem was with the Active Support Library...had to get a third-party cleaner and uninstall Active Support Library, then go to Hp support and download current Active Support Library file.
All other problems incurred were a result of attempting to correct this problem.

This really helped, I had an issue with my webcam on my HP and also a driver update. I did what this guy at the bottom said, and it worked, my HP is now all tuned up :-)

come to think of it, vista works pretty good except for hp's crap.

HP support is a joke. Had corrupt help files. 3 different chat supports, 3 different answers, from drivers not available, virus or spyware, recovery wouldn't solve problem of corrupt files.
Ran recovery partition and all works fine.

Hp health check is not very informative. A much more informative scan can be done at www.pcpitstop.com It is free and pretty good.
You have to register first. To run the scans you have to right click your explorer icon and choose to run as administrator. They have a scan that will show you the latest driver versions available for your computer, which might help your problems.

Thumbs down Web-cam
Ok... So I went to the PCPitstop website and did the complete test and it came back saying that all my systems are good and everything should be running smoothly. however, I am still unable to use my webcam. It is an integrated webcam, so I don't have to download any software to use it. Everything says it should just work when I ty to use it. I cannot seem to figure out how to eve assess what it is that is keeping me from being able to use it. I have basically hit a dead end. Any ideas??
