Upgrading to 64 bit edition
I bought Vista Home premium only to find out that the disc only contained 32-bit software, but enclosed was a link that led me to send away for the 64-bit version. Now that I have it, can I upgrade overtop or am I going to need a clean install to get the new drivers and whatnot? Also: I've been reading some posts, and is 4gb ram really critically necessary for 64-bit?

Well, when i tried to boot from the x64 cd, the screen says Loading Windows or something like that, fills the bar, and then the screen stays black. I didn't format my drive, I don't think i need to to see the windows installation screen? I guess I won't install it until I get some feedback.

Probably the best thing would be to just do a clean install... But I dont know if I would upgrade just yet. I got x64 ultimate and I often find myself limited on the drivers that I can use... recently I got a Wireless N router but had to use a Wireless G Card (I know, not a big difference but I would love to use my router to its fullest ability)... And I know if you are anything like me I wipe my hard drive about once a year anyway to make sure everything is running as efficiently as possible...
