File to large to move
I am trying to move all the files from my 300gb external drive to a bigger 500gb but there are about 10 files (around 8gb and up) that it wont move because it says they are too big. How do I move them anyway?

Is the new drive NTFS?

Can you copy them and then delete them?

Perhaps you could back them up with a program such as Acronis and then load them onto your new drive?

Do you have 8gb or more space (Or whatever the file size you're transferring) free on your hard drive?

You might want to try a program called Unstoppable Copier. I find that it moves stubborn files pretty well. http://www.roadkil.net/unstopcp.html

Could I just format it to NTFS? What would be the downside to doing this?

Start / Run / cmd

then

convert X: /fs:ntfs

where X: is the drive letter of the one you want to convert.
