Zone Alarm
Has anyone else tried the new Zone Alarm for Vista? I'm noticing a long delay before a new page loads, up to around 6 seconds. Anyone?

I installed it yesterday and removed it already because it didn't play nice.

I had to do a system restore to get things back on track.

No more Zone alarm for me

From what I have read on the ZA site, only ZoneAlarm Secure Wireless Router and ZoneAlarm Identity Protection Center are ready for Vista at this time (or is this page out of date?) ...

I had a couple of the beta versions, and installed the released version to see where it was, but uninstalled it, too. Just too many missing pieces when compared to the XP version. The word is that the privacy portions will be implemented in another version to be released later this year.

ZoneAlarm Not Ready For Vista
I have been looking for a reasonable replacement for Vistas firewall. While ZoneAlarm claims to be Vista ready at this time, the trial would not install correctly, even after Vista tried to install it with "recommended settings". Anyone having any luck finding a firewall that will play nice with Vista? P.S. Did I mention I'm cheap ?

I don't know if it's a recommendation, but here's what is currently running on my Vista Home Premium notebook (all free):
  • PC Tools Firewall Plus
  • PC Tools Spyware Doctor
  • avast! antivirus
I turned off Windows Firewall and Windows Defender.

Avast Seems To Do The Job
I'm actually running Advast Antivirus now. I'm going to try PC Tools Firewall. The PC Tools SpyWare Doctor is'nt free is it? At least not if you want it to remove any thing.

Nope, the free version of PC Tools Spyware Doctor won't remove; however, prevention makes that function superfluous.

Thanks For The Info
Firewall's up and running, thanks to you and PC Tools. You are right, if it keeps the bugs out, won't be no need to remove them.

Seeings how I'm on a roll here, Media Player 11 for Vista. I got a problem with it. It has been working fine, up untill I deleted a lot of media content. Songs, videos, etc. It will start now showing the song library, however if I change to Video contents, it displays for a moment, and then shuts down? Any suggestions? I'd reinstall it if I could find it.

Thank you for the updated information. I guess I need to flush my browser cache more often.

I like the free XP compatible version and was hoping the Vista version would be just as good. Judging from other comments here is looks like there are still a few bugs to be worked out.

While I am sure that there are bugs, as there are in virtually any complex code, the feature omissions in the initial release for Vista are the issue for me.
