Angry Killing Defender!
I know there have been some posts on this but I can't find them...!

How do I kill the real Time protection of Defender (that I hate!)

When I go to Control Panel and check the defender settings it says real time is ON. aaaghhh!

I have also been into the Admin Tools and disabled Windows Defender under running services but still no joy!

Killing Defender
Hi cuttlefish - did this this afternoon and I think what I did was command prompt -- msconfig--Start up and uncheck it.

killing defender
cuttlefish - just thought of this but haven't had time to dig it out..... If you look back through all the messages regarding my world's slowest vista thread, you will find in there the directions rollin-rog gave for turning off defender. I'll research it better if you would like but if you look at his replies (I think it was relatively early in the thread) it should be there.
Cheers

The way I read it, he doesn't wan't to turn it off. Try typing in the "run" box gpedit.msc
Select Computer Configuration. Select Administrative Templates/Windows Compnents.
Scroll down to Windows Defender and enable "turn off real time protection prompts for unknown detection."

Yep, thanks everybody. I didn't do the "scroll" bit after I went to Options in Windows Defender. Down a few pages you come to the "turn off real protection......" as Uhaligani said...... all fixed now.
Thanks again!
