Lost the Sound in Vista ( home premium )
Hi guys
I recently ( yesterday ) bought a new computer with Vista Home premium ( oh by the way I live here in Spain, Madrid so its all in Spanish ) Not so much of a problem I understand a little.
Well last night I did the set up and all was well ..I had sound and my headphones/speakers/microphone all were configured and working great. Any how..I have done something last night and now for the love of God I cant get the sound ..I have gone back into the configuration/Audio manager where last night it played the sound during tests ..but now nothing ..My media Players all have sound settings on and turned up...My Speakers are on and turned up ..I know this because they play my iPod when I plug it in so its not the Speakers problem ( not 5.1 or 7.1) just 2 and a bass woofer by the way.

The problem is I think I have clicked something somewhere and this has stopped the sound..I system restored it to an earlier time ..I just cant get it on ..plus this Vista is in Spanish so I cant real get into the nitty gritty of the problem in the help section.

Is there a way that I can reset everything and start again with the audio Configuration ?
I went into the control panel and all the drivers and systems are functioning correctly ..I think Ive just clicked something ..
Please please help
Kind regards
Anthony
p.s. When I plug in my headphones/mic the speakers reproduce the mic sound when I talk and it comes out of the Speakers.

I would:

1. pysically remove all multimedia audio hardware--speakers/headsets/voip & usb phones.

2. ensure in Device manager all are gone, remove as needed...and as well sound card + uninstall its software.

3. reboot, reinstall sound card drivers + its software, ensure in device manager driver installation took, reboot.

4. while rebooting, physically connect all removed hardware; when windows starts reinstall any needed drivers... reboot.

You should now be good to go-- steps 1 & 2 are crucial-- the other stuff often gets in the way of any soundcard tweak, settings adjustment, un/re-install.

I lost the sound on my Vista computer and fixed it by re-associating the RealTek driver to the speakers. I assume you've tried re-configuring through device manager.

My sound also dissapeared, so could ju please tell me how I do that, that's the last option until I conclude my audio card is dead, I have an integrated Realtek just like you, so it could be the same problem.

this may seem amatuerish, but how did you reassociate the realtek driver witht the speakers? I can only see how to associate file extensions with programs..
