Unhappy Corrupt or unavailable file
I cannot load office 2007 enterprise on windows vista ultimate 32 bit.
I continue to get an error that a file is corrupt or missing.
What file would that be? DVD will load OK on an XP operating system, will not load on windows vista ultimate.
Can anyone help?

Do you get this message after you put in the DVD and it automatically runs it?

Can you go through Computer or Explorer and manually run the setup on that DVD drive? See if you can access it and run the setup as Administrator

AutoRun intall from DVD, install starts then almost imediately stops with the error msg.
Tried explorer and clicked on exe file, same thing. Tried copy disk to hard drive and run exe and same-o same-o. MS sent second disk and same-o same-o.
Tried disk on desktop with Win xp, did not receive error, stopped install because I want it on my laptop with Vista ultimate. I assume the file it cannot find is a vista file?

What about running it as Administrator in the explorer?

Are you having problems with any other CD's or DVD's?

Since you got sent a second disk it almost seems like an issue with your disk player

I am only one on this laptop, so I assume I am administrator, please correct me if mistaken, new with vista.
Have not had problems with other CD's, loaded Nero OK.
Is there a way to check DVD drive?

You probably are Administrator, but run it anyways as one. I'm and admin on mine and I've seen software not install correctly or not at all unless run as admin.

Not sure about a way to test the DVD drive, someone else might know

Office Enterprise is only available through academic institutions or through volume licensing. You've already loaded it on one system, and now you're trying to load it on another. Given that this is your first thread here, I wonder if this is a legal copy.

By default Vista sets up with a 'standard' account enabled which does not have full administrator rights, plus it hides the admin account to protect new users from themselves.

I know, it is a nanny setup on MS's part..

This might be of help, at least as far as info on accounts is concerned. I'm not going to be of much help with the other matter unfortunately..

DH-
It is a leagal copy I purchased thru my company and the Microsoft Home use program.
It is not already loaded elsewhere, I could not load on Vista so MS said try an xp machine, the install started OK with no errors, so then I cancelled and did not install on xp. It will not install on vista.

Chas, you haven't directly answered the question of right-clicking setup file/running in admin mode.... that might be the fix. PS that option may or may not be available in all setup files-- you'll have to try install or setup, preferably .exe not .msi or .inf nor autorun.

as well later, i'd get to home folder and do the same to all the main exe files-- you'll need to get into the properties/compatibility tab.

lastly, vista & xp handle discs a bit differently-- i would try isobuster.... and verify other discs are running fine on your vista system.

good luck.

ISobuster bypasses os file system and directly accesses disc-- useful for both driver/file format/OS conflicts & physically-damaged discs. Google it-- it's shareware BUT always-full-featured(periodic registering nag).

1. Please don't run autorun-- whether exe or inf... if you have to, exit that install try, then open explorer and browse to cd root: look for setup.exe / right-click it / select: Run as Administrator.
2. Afterwards, go to Program Files/Office folder(make a mental route of where install routine creates it), then in each folder toggle the directory contents by Type/ then right-click each .exe file/select: Properties/Compatibility/Run this Program in Administrator Mode.

Follow those two steps for all programs that won't install properly or don't run properly after install(just overinstall w/ the new methodology). PS some programs will run fine a couple times initially after install, then get cranky-- they may be helped by this overinstall method as well.

Vista is cranky re permission levels & what not-- what's worse, it has held off locking out third-party software that doesn't conform to its new way of doing things. I suspect when SP1 comes out, a ton of stuff will be locked out overnight.

I tried right click setup.exe and run as administrator.
Same result, file is corrupt or unavailable. Again - I belive the corrupt or missing file is windows vista not the office 2007 DVD, again, the DVD started to load fine in win xp and then I cancelled install on xp machine. copied dvd to hard drive, same result when setup.exe run.

Downloaded isobuser; afraid it is a bit above my level, just not sure what it does???
Will have to try and learn it.

Just cannot understand why a microsoft product will not load on a microsoft operating system....

Have you verified that you can install other programs in Vista from dvd?

Isobuster will allow you to copy to hard disk and run install from there(it will also inform you if any file on the disc is damaged)-- i actually had an Office install on a bad disc that i was able to run from the hard drive.

PS your Office version has been reported to work seamlessly on Vista.

Can you past a screenshot of the error message, if you can't remember it exactly?
