Unhappy Flip 3D issue
Hello,

I am happy with Vista's eye candy, but can't use Win+Tab for Flip 3D. I had used it before from the button in the Quick Launch bar (worked as it was supposed to), then tried Win+Tab a few times and nothing happened. Now, the quick launch button acts as Alt-Tab (the 2D version of Flip AFAIK). I tried using Win+Tab again (hoped it toggled behaviour), but to no success. Has anyone experienced something similar? Note that Flip 3D _did_ work properly before.

Thanks in advance,
Vlad

Thumbs up Windows Vista Flip 3D Issue
First off, usually if a person is having a issue displaying the Flip3D Issue in Windows Vista,
it is because they don't have either a good enough video card, or their monitor is unable to display that frame rate.

But in your case, if you have done it before on this PC, and now the feature is not working... Make sure all of your monitors are turned on and working (If you have multiple monitors)...The right click on the desktop and select on Personalize, then select the top selection: Window Color and Appearance

Once in there under Color Scheme make sure it's on Windows Aero, then click Apply and OK...

If that doesn't do it let me know...

It worked, but setting the color scheme required several attempts. After each failed attempt, a running window would be displayed (Firefox and Thunderbird are two which I recall). I closed them eventually and changing the scheme worked -- now I have Flip 3D working, and Aero theme. However, I'm still puzzled as to why the switch happened. I didn't change it intentionally. Is there any conflict with Firefox or Thunderbird? (Note that now I am running Firefox to post this and Flip 3D works).

Have you been changing any other settings or any other color scheme settings...
Resolutions or added monitors or anything?

Well, I fidled around with the monitor settings (I plan on adding a second monitor just for fun when I have the physical space on my desk), but I don't think I've switched anything. Now that I know what I have to change I will probably figure out if this was a singular case or an incompatibility of sort. Right now everything works fine, after multiple Firefox and Thunderbird instances have been run.

Thanks for your help,
-Vlad

Even just changing some of the resolution setting or monitor settings could change it...

I have dual monitors and vista business, and I have had this change these appearance settings, and I have had to go into the settings and change it back to where it should be...

This only changed when I added another monitor... But i have a laptop and It has a monitor out put and so I figured it had something to do with that...

But sometimes it will not allow the aero interface to run due to a program that is running that is not compatible with aero... (Itunes wasn't for a while, and things like that)

Let me know...

Well, it'll probably be a week or two until I install a second monitor, if I decide to do it. But I'll reply to this if I do, just to widen the test cases. By the way, I am using a desktop computer.
