Vista keeps installing program
I'm having two problems right now with acrobat and itunes. when I click them to open them up windows installer dialog pops up and says configuring installation and it keeps popping up and wont go away for awhile. Now the programs both work but the annoying window keeps popping up.

I would uninstall them reboot and then reinstall them to see if maybe the install is corrupted.

I tried this with itunes and it did not work. I prefer not to have to try that option with acrobat because is part of the cs3 suite which takes FOREVER to install and uninstall.

I am having the exact same problem with itunes on vista, on both my desktop AND my laptop. I've tried uninstalling, reboot, re-installing, i've tried registry cleanups and all sorts of things and still nothing.

Do you have UAC turn OFF, if so Adobe Acrobat may require it to be on when installed. What version are you trying to install?

Or try right clicking the setup file and select "Run As Administrator".

No no, itunes is installed (UAC is turned off). After installation, whenever you click on the itunes icon (NOT the install icon but the actual itunes icon itself on the desktop, start menu, and quick launch) it brings up a dialogue that says, "preparing to install" "please wait while windows configures itunes" and runs that for about 5 to 6 seconds and then itunes just pops up.

It's really obnoxious.

I hope that makes it a little more clear.

"preparing to install"
Because the INSTALL was never completed. If the UAC is turned OFF some of the new Vista ready programs will NOT completely install.

That was a good idea. But still no luck. I uninstalled itunes, turned UAC back on, restarted, downloaded itunes, ran the install. After completing the install, I clicked the icon and it brought up the same dialogue again. meh

I should also note, that it does this even if itunes is already opened and running.

Have you run the install as administrator?
Or started up a installed version using "Run As Administrator"?

Yes (by the way, I really appreciate you putting effort into this).

I uninstalled ituenes.
UAC on
restarted
followed the directions
installed itunes as administrator (right click and such)

still no luck.

At this point, I just feel bad for making you work at it so much. I can live with it.

...for now *grits teeth*

I'm having the same problem with iTunes (I don't use Adobe so I don't know about that). It's very annoying. I too have tried installing with UAC on (it's usually off), with the same lack of luck.

Weird
