Probably better to wait if you have any doubts. But I and many members on this site and others, are running Vista successfully. It needs a little relearning, particularly on the navigation, which is the main reason for many of the so-called problems. If you glance through this forum, you will notice that MOST of the problems were solved very simply and quickly, by directing the poster to the correct area.
I have been using it as my main OS for about six months now. Well customised, I must admit, bu I will not be going back to XP.

Well phrased as "is it necessary to buy Vista right now" , no it is certainly not necessary, the question is, is it even prudent at this time. I would suggest not and as a general rule of thumb I always suggest wait until SP1 before making the move.

I agree with Rich-M. I suggest you wait until Service Pack 1 comes out and then see how it all turns out. Just because sp1 is comming out doesn't mean its going to have LESS bugs than Vista does now. Although I can't imagine it being any worse than it is. So far im pleased with the options that were implimented into vista, i just wish all of them worked 100%. Most people with vista have problems with drivers, like not being able to print, use their scanners, install needed software applications etc.. Just keep a eye out for SP1 and we will see what happens.
