windows Vista
When i close down Vista it stalls and I am left with a blank screen for a few minutes thenit turns to blue with various hieroglyphics. I can then only close by pressing the On/Off button. Dell tells me it is a fault with Windows Vista OS and I need to remove all my programs and data and re-nstall. As I have only had the Laptop for a month I wonder if anybody else has had this problem and knows how to resolve it?

It's not Vista. It's the drivers for your video card. Find out what card you are using with a program like SIW (System Information for Windows) and go directly to the manufacturer's website to get the updates.

Don't use any hardware updates from Microsoft.
