Watching DVD on Media Center = Sudden Shutdown
I have a PC that is a couple of years old which has been running great until the other day when I tried to use bootvis to speed up boot times. This trashed the MBR, so I got myself a new hard drive and a fresh copy of Vista.

I've installed Vista, updated all drivers possible, and have it working successfully on my machine.

However, this one annoyance remains: Whenever I use Media Center to view a DVD using my Sony DRU 810A player, it will play for about a minute, and then suddenly my PC will power off.

I have already taken the following steps:

1. I've chased all drivers down to the latest ones
2. I've searched the internet high and low for a similar problem
3. I've vacuumed dust from inside the machine and used compressed air to get in the cracks
4. I've used media center to view video FILES with no problems

For some reason, using the DVD player to watch a movie causes a shut down. This worked perfectly before I installed Vista.

Any hints?

More info - it's doing it when watching a DVD also using Media Player. I managed to watch as much as 3 minutes of a movie before the computer suddenly powered off.
