4Gb+ Hard-Drive Space just disapeared??? I have recently fresh installed Vista Ultimate.. after install there was about
14Gb free space.. (24Gb Partition)... I installed a few (5/6) 20Mb-40Mb programs
and 1.3Gb office 2007 and have used up 1Gb with media... so say 250Mb for the apps
1.3Gb for office and 1Gb for media and 10Gb for Vista Ultimate = 12.6Gb
Windows reports that there is 8Gb free space? so there is about 4Gb just disapeared..?
this may have happened after a BSOD due to kaspersky....
Im always in My Computer and check the free space when i do and it was tonight when
i noticed the mass of space missing?
How can this happen? ive noticed it happen before in XP (usually after severe system crashes)
but not so early in after fresh install (2days)...
Ive even made all files and folders shown (and system op files) then highlighted all in C:/
(inc. pagefile.sys and hibersys.fil) and selected properties and in there compared to free space
reported under the drive letter there is about 3-4Gb missing...
any ideas anyone>?
I'd love to know what it is as its something that has bugged me over the years...
I know that if the system crashes whilst it was accessing the hard-drive the files
it was accessing can be lost aswell as the space they where on.. and this 'Lost'
space can be recovered using the right software...however ive never known it to
go in clumps of 2-4Gbs???
Really love some help on this...
